How We Sing the First Lutheran
Mission Statement
Listen God Is Calling (tune)
Lis-ten! (Refrain)
Lis-ten God is call-ing, through our church in-vit-ing,
Of-fer-ing for-give-ness, love, and great joy!
We reflect God’s love: in-vite don’t judge;
We live with com-pas-sion, and show re-spect (Refrain)
We want our-selves to be: de-pend-able,
Re-spon-sive lo-cal-ly and glo-bal-ly (Refrain)
When our church needs change, we will a-dapt!
Change is every-where; we will a-dapt! (Refrain)
Lis-ten!
Lis-ten God is call-ing, through our church in-vit-ing,
Of-fer-ing for-give-ness, love, and great joy!
Text: Tanzanian traditional, revised for First Lutheran, St. Helens, OR, by Rev. Joan Beck

How We Pray the First Lutheran
Mission Statement
Gracious God, Help me to invite all to share the joy of God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. And help me to grow into our guiding principles:
As I reflect God’s love by being inviting, non-judgmental, compassionate, and respectful;
As I work to be dependable and responsive in our community and global efforts;
As I adapt to the changing needs of our congregation;
And as I joyfully proclaim the story of God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
I pray this in Jesus’ name, AMEN.
